jesus, the son of the living god.

"Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?"

(Proverbs 30:4)

Even back in the days of King Solomon, God's identity was not in question. Neither was the existence of His Son! Today, we state boldly that we know God; And yes! we also know the name of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

So, who is Jesus?

Trying to understand who Jesus is; is appreciating what “love” is.

Rational reasoning makes the idea of a God, who left the comfort of His Throne in Heaven, to come and pay a deadly price for some renegade creation – who in the most, have refused to acknowledge Him; ludicrous, and overwhelming!

It just doesn’t sound reasonable!

Perhaps, more queer, is the inordinate love of His Father and God; Who, in a bid to reconcile the World to Himself, released His one and only Son, to be humiliated and eliminated by the ones He chose to save.

The more I consider this, the more it weakens me!

Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Church in Rome, gave a profound understanding, to the mystery set at play.

As it is written:

“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:

Yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,

while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:7-8)

And this, about sums it up!
No one in his or her rational mind will die for a “supposed” righteous man.

The thought of dying for a good man, might even be considered;

But the chances of following through with that fatal idea is however, slim – to none!

There was nothing sagacious about Jesus’ will to die for us. We never deserved it.

And we still don’t!

Some, might challenge the whole concept of ‘sin’ and ‘redemption’.

They could claim that we who are alive today weren’t the cause of the “sin” that transpired in Eden.

That argument however, is only as plausible as expecting leniency after breaking the laws of a foreign land - under the guise of 'ignorance'. The fully penalty will sure be levied! The timing of our entry into this World is irrelevant.

The first man sinned, and we were all scheduled to pay the penalty – which is death. It’s as simple as that.

Only one solution was apparent. Blood, had to be spilled; to atone for the eternal crime!

For it is written:

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood;

and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

(Hebrews 9:22)

Perhaps, it would have been less tragic if the blood of animals could be potent enough to erase the error of the first man.

Well, that alternative was once employed, under the era of the Law of Moses;

But it just wasn’t good enough!

Again, the scriptures reveal:

“For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

(Hebrews 10:1-4)

Under the “Law”, the blood of animals had to be spilled yearly to provide some sort of cover against sins.

The fact remained that it could only shroud sins ‘temporarily’. It didn’t suffice for the daily transgressions;

And it was also insufficient for Adam’s original sin.

It then became imperative that a long-lasting solution be provided for the matter of sin - ‘once and for all’!

A “perfect sacrifice” was needed. Life - for life, as it were.

Unfortunately, no one on Earth could stand in the gap; Which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, giving that we had all embraced the rebellion of the first man. We had willingly defied the rule of the Living God, who sits enthroned amidst the Cherubim.

It was clear that only One Person could take that ‘fall’. Only One, could bridge that gap.

The Son of God was needed - to be our sacrificial Lamb. His blood would be the ultimate penance that resolved the sin matter;

Once, and for all!

King David, being full of the Spirit, declared this mystery about a thousand years before the Christ walked the face of the Earth.

It is written:

“Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,”

(Psalms 40:6-7)

Again, the scripture relay:

“Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”

(Hebrews 10:5-7)

Jesus could have declined. He didn’t need to heed the ‘death’ call.

I mean; He had no obligation whatsoever to redeem a vile, recalcitrant and corrupt human race. If He had refused to come, who could challenge Him?

Who on Earth, under the Earth – or even amongst the Celestials could summon the audacity to question His motives and intent?

He is second, only to His Father and God. His status was God. He is, God!

And though our Heavenly Father is “All in all”, if Jesus had disobeyed Adonai’s instruction to have him come pay the ultimate price, He still wouldn’t have been liable. Nor His Sonship compromised.

But He did pay the price. He left His glory. Embraced the shame.

Tolerated the pain.

And all, because He had us in mind.

His love for us, is unexplainable. It is just, irrational.

Apostle Paul’s letter to the Church in Philippi, tells us just everything we need to know about this Christ;

Same, who is Lord.

It is written:

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

(Philippians 2:5-8)

Want to make jesus your lord?

Please say the below prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before you today. I ask for your mercy. I acknowledge that I am a sinner, and that I have strayed far from your ways. I apologize and renounce all my sins. Please forgive me. I accept the way you have provided for my salvation; and I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord. I also believe in my heart that you raised Jesus from the dead for my justification.

Thank you for answering my prayer. In Jesus name I have prayed. Amen.
